Newcastle United centre forward Salomon Rondon showed the Magpies faithful what he could do against Bournemouth last time out with a tremendous brace.

And now, the Chronicle reports that the Venezuelan international has moved his family to the North East, suggesting that he is open to staying at the club beyond the end of his season long loan from West Bromwich Albion.

Moving from the Midlands to the North East is a big commitment and is surely a positive sign for Newcastle’s chances of signing the 29-year-old on a permanent basis in the summer.

Furthering the positivity, Rondon’s comments in the Chroncile’s report will have Magpies fans excited: “Ever since I arrived here it has been friendly,” he said. “When I first signed some people recognised me around the city and they came over to say welcome.

“I was settled here quickly. I have played around the world but to be settled already is good. I am settled and my family is settled, I now have to just keep on working.”

It certainly sounds as if Rondon is happy on Tyneside and, now that he is fully fit and firing, the fans are starting to see why Rafael Benitez wanted to sign the player so desperately this summer.

The former Zenit St. Petersburg man, on a reported £60,000-per-week [Source: Spotrac], produced a dominant display against the Cherries, bullying the opposition and leading his side to an impressive victory.

It’s imperative that he stays on Tyneside beyond his loan period. He is too good of a player for the club to miss out on, while he seems to be exactly the sort of frontman that Benitez wants.

He works hard and he is a nightmare for opposition defenders. When he is on song there is no one that opposition defences hate coming up against more.

Newcastle have no one else like him and, as long as he continues his recent fine form, they should be doing everything they can to sign him permanently.
