Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has reportedly sanctioned funds to be available for the January transfer window, and many fans have taken to Twitter to react.

These Newcastle fans are obviously not going to be swayed by this latest report on Ashley’s dealings ahead of the January transfer window, and you can see why. The Sports Direct tycoon has led the Newcastle fanbase on a rickety rollercoaster of emotions over the past several years, and the vast majority of fans just want to see him gone. His promises of funds in the past have never really come through, with the last window particularly disappointing, and it will take more than just a report to convince these fans that January funds are actually set to be available. The likelihood remains that the ‘funds’ sanctioned by Ashley will only be enough for either cheap permanent deals or loan captures from Europe. The Magpies have been hard at work scouting out potential targets ahead of the window, and they will have their work cut out to secure the players needed to avoid a relegation scrap in the second half of the season.
