Newcastle United might well have picked up their first win of the Premier League season with victory over Watford but there will still be doubts over just how effective their strikers are.

Considering the likes of Joselu and Salomon Rondon are meant to be putting the goals away, it was Ayoze Perez who scored the all important goal, the attacking midfielder coming off the bench to seal the three points for Rafael Benitez and his men.

Much has been said about the forward options on Tyneside and as January rolls ever closer, it seems imperative that Newcastle need to recruit someone who is going to net on a regular basis – or they will be facing the threat of relegation once again.

As for who the Magpies look to poach, it must be remembered that Benitez is working off a shoestring budget under Mike Ashley, and so snapping up a proven top flight talent is almost an impossibility.

Bargains need to be found, and they could well find exactly what they are looking for in the shape of Godsway Donyoh, who appears to be catching the eye in Norway.

The Nordsjaelland striker has netted at an impressive rate with eight goals in 14 appearances and Ghana Soccernet claim that Newcastle’s top flight rivals Everton, Leicester City and Bournemouth are all chasing his capture with the 24-year-old said to be dreaming of a move to England’s top flight.

He is likely to be well within the Magpies’ limited budget – that in itself is a rarity – and giving him the opportunity to dazzle in front of 52,000 fans would be too great an opportunity to turn down.

If he can replicate his form from Norway in England, then Benitez and the Toon Army would have their fears of the drop blown away – but it means hijacking their rivals’ hunt.
