Gary Neville has hailed Tottenham trio Christian Eriksen, Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli for their mesmerising performances in the weekend win against Chelsea.

The Sky Sports pundit was blown away by the energy and movement of the attacking midfielders as they fed off spearhead Harry Kane.

Goals from Alli, Kane and Son led Tottenham to a 3-1 triumph at Wembley in a performance that many critics agreed was the best by the home side all season.

“It was interesting watching Chelsea. They’re a wonderful team to watch, Tottenham, when it happens like that for them,” Neville told Sky Sports. “When you have Harry Kane as a focal point, and then you have those players – Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son around them – you haven’t got a clue where they’re going to turn up next. The energy in the team, the runs forward, it just knits.

“For Chelsea, even though they weren’t anywhere near their best, they came up against a Tottenham team who were at it. We know the rivalry between those two is big and there wasn’t a lot of love lost.”

OPINION

What was so remarkable about the performances of Eriksen, Son and Alli against Chelsea was not that they were brilliant, but that they were brilliant in that particular game and at that particular time. All three are outstanding footballers and bona fide Premier League stars, yet Alli and Eriksen have been below par this season while Son has been an absolute shadow of his former self. The first league match after an international break often provides disjointed performances from those sides who lose so many of their key squad men to national team duty. Son certainly benefited from a rest from South Korea, while Alli and Eriksen appeared to have been galvanised by getting minutes under their belts after injuries and mixed form over much of the autumn. Tottenham fans will now be hoping for a repeat showing against Inter Milan on Wednesday as the club look to make a stunning Champions League comeback and reach the knockout stages of the competition.
