Manchester City put in a scintillating display of attacking football to thrash Southampton 6-1 on Sunday afternoon, but many fans have taken to Twitter to slam the display of left-back Benjamin Mendy.
An early own goal from Wesley Hoedt saw City take the lead before goals from Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Leroy Sane and a double from Raheem Sterling saw them romp to victory.
City fans have been reacting to their latest win on Twitter, with many singling out Mendy for a poor display at left-back as the France international struggled to make an impact on the game.

COMMENTARY
These Manchester City fans are obviously unimpressed by Mendy’s latest display, and you can see why. The France international is quite clearly a really talented player, but his attitude towards the game seems to hold him back. Too often Mendy looks far too casual in his play, with his defensive positioning also leaving a lot to be desired. That is set to cost City a lot of goals this season if it continues, and that is not something they can afford with the title race being much closer this time around. Mendy’s talents obviously lie in attack, with his crosses into the box usually being pinpoint, but even that aspect of his game looked off against the Saints. Either Mendy will cut those issues out of his game under Pep Guardiola in the coming months or he will end up being a hugely frustrating figure for City fans as he fails to reach his potential.
@benmendy23 again with a disappointing performance.

This is some performance from City today. It is not fun to play against us when we're in this mood. But a word of warning: big teams, and especially CL teams, are going to see that Mendy cannot defend. We're so vulnerable down that side. #bbcfootball
