Everton are leaving Premier League rivals Leicester City and Bournemouth behind as the top flight trio chase the signing of Nordsjaelland striker Godsway Donyoh, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim that the Toffees are leading the charge for the 24-year-old after his eight goals in Norway this season, with Ghana Soccernet reporting that the trio of top flight sides have all been scouting the hitman.

A move to Everton would see Donyoh return to the north west of England after a spell in the youth teams at Manchester City, having left the Premier League champions in the January window of 2016.

Good move for Everton?

The Toffees are in the strange situation of not knowing whether they really need another centre forward this season as Richarlison, a natural winger or attacking midfielder, continues to perform well in his makeshift role.

Cenk Tosun has not looked like the same powerful striker as he did when he joined at the start of 2019, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is not yet among the goals as he finds himself moved around by Marco Silva.

Donyoh is in pretty good form for his club but Norway’s top flight is a world away from the Premier League – and there must be a reason Manchester City let him leave.

He is not going to be an immediate fix for the Toffees, and so they might want to give him a miss.

Likely to happen?

If Everton really want him, then the only stopping them will be the interest from their rivals.

They have more than enough money to tempt his current side into selling and his future could well be decided by which club are willing to splash out the most for his capture.

With Everton not in desperate need of his services, they could let this one slide should a bidding war be ignited.
