A section of football fans took to Twitter to lay into Aaron Ramsey for his performance in Wales’ 2-1 Nations League defeat to Denmark on Friday night.
The Arsenal midfielder played the full 90 minutes of the clash in Cardiff as his side missed out on promotion to the Nations League’s top tier.
Many Wales and other supporters highlighted the contribution of Ramsey, with comments including “criminal” and “shocking”.

COMMENTARY:
Amid a backdrop of stories from Germany that Ramsey is close to reaching an agreement to join Bayern Munich, the midfielder had the chance to show why he is a special player in a crucial match for Wales. Sadly, it did not work out for the national team or one of their greatest-ever players on a night when Denmark secured the victory that makes them Group B4 winners and guarantees them at least a play-off to qualify for Euro 2020. In an attack-minded side selected by Ryan Giggs, Ramsey was used in a deeper role than usual, operating for most of the match in a central midfield two alongside Joe Allen rather than further up the pitch as he usually does for Wales. It did not work out, as Ramsey kept getting caught out of position. For Arsenal fans, that will be a familiar refrain. Few doubt the 27-year-old’s class, but it is telling that he doesn’t seem to have a set position after a decade at Emirates Stadium. Perhaps that it why the club are willing to let him go.
Oddly, this image may actually sum up the lack of positional awareness shown by Aaron Ramsey in this evening's game. Poor display from the Arsenal midfielder. Though, it proved to be an off night for many of his peers, too. https://t.co/kHXn3qGBpa

Is it me or does Aaron Ramsey very rarely have a good game for Wales? Granted it wasn't helped that he was playing in defensive midfield but he's never been consistent internationally imo

Tactically wrong first half from Giggs. I get we want to attack but have to be smarter. Ramsey never a defensive mid vs strong opposition. Played poorly.
Nothing between two teams but Denmark strong tactically & defend with pride. Eriksen & Bale both quiet.

Unpopular opinion Welsh football twitter doesn’t want to here – Aaron Ramsey is a luxury player we really can’t afford. I get that he’s one of our most talented players, but when we don’t have the ball he doesn’t know want to know. Playing him in a 2 vs Eriksen is criminal.

Ramsey could play for the best teams in the world YES. One of the best ever Wales players YES.
But his positional awareness is sooo bad he is a forward thinking player, Eriksen had a field day running off him. They targeted Ramsey and exploited him so bad. HOME and AWAY.

Smith should've played. Ramsey and Allen as a midfield two with Eriksen about is shocking. May as well have been a replay of Aarhus
