A section of Everton fans have destroyed Theo Walcott for his first half display against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Bernard went close for the Toffees in the early stages, but it was Chelsea who dominated possession throughout the first half, which caused summer signing Yerry Mina to get penalised for fouling Eden Hazard.

However, it was Walcott who the fans were not pleased with, with some comments including “proper rains my soul” and “he offers nothing”.

COMMENTARY

It is baffling to know what has happened to Theo Walcott at Everton this season. He looks a shadow of the player he was when he first signed, especially in this first half against Chelsea. By the looks of it, these fans who have tweeted are not his biggest admirers at the moment. One supporter even remarked how their excitement at signing Walcott has now faded, which has no doubt been reinforced by this display. We all know that he is capable of much more than he has showed here, and some will have their fingers crossed that he can redeem himself after the international break. Somebody says that he runs with the ball, but at the same time does not seem to know what he is doing with it. This is a worrying sign for a player like Walcott – and he must do better from now on, or face the axe from boss Marco Silva.
