Former Everton player Peter Reid has delivered a verdict on his old club’s 0-0 stalemate with Chelsea on Sunday.

The two sides faced off at Stamford Bridge with the Blues dominating most of the possession, which came before Alvaro Morata netted only for it to be ruled out for offside, while Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford pulled off a string of fantastic saves to keep his side in the match.

Following the goalless draw, Reid – who played for Everton during the 1980s – delivered a five word verdict on the result via his personal Twitter account, simply saying it was a “decent point” for Marco Silva’s players.

He said: “Everton decent point that. Well played.”

OPINION

Even though many Everton fans would have liked their team to seal a win over Chelsea – a tough prospect considering that they are still unbeaten in the Premier League – they will no doubt be over the moon that they managed to secure a draw with them. Everton always prove to be stingy opponents for the Blues, and that was proved again today, and they only have Pickford to thank for that. He kept them in the game and denied Chelsea a number of opportunities to go in the lead. Reid is right to heap praise on the result, as not many teams can come to Stamford Bridge and hold their own for 90 minutes. Yes, the Toffees were lucky at points, but not many sides can come away with a clean sheet under their belts. Everton were at risk of getting no points, but the fact that they went unbeaten in this fixture says a lot about their character.
