Stan Collymore has named three Everton players in his Premier League Team of the Week, with the outspoken pundit singling out Jordan Pickford, Yerry Mina, and Gylfi Sigurdsson for praise.

The Toffees managed to hold an unbeaten Chelsea side to a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge for a valuable point ahead of the international break.

Collymore has now recognised their performance by naming the trio in his Team of the Week, with all three players contributing heavily to the result.

In his column for the Mirror, Collymore claimed Pickford “produced a strong of top saves to keep Chelsea at bay”, while rarely-seen ace Mina put in a “solid display on his first start in English football at Stamford Bridge.”

Meanwhile Sigurdsson, who is now an injury worry for the Toffees, “caused Chelsea problems and unlucky not to beat Kepa.”

OPINION

It is good to see a few Everton players get the credit they deserve for a really solid outing against a dangerous Chelsea side. The form that the Blues have been in this season meant that many did not expect the Toffees to be able to keep them out for 90 minutes, especially with Eden Hazard back from injury, but it was an impressive clean sheet. As Collymore points out, Pickford played a big part in that by pulling off some important saves. Mina was also an important cog in that defence as the Colombia international colossus made an assured start to life as a Premier League defender. Further forward it was Sigurdsson who pulled the strings for the Toffees, and the Iceland international came close to an opening goal on a couple of occasions. It is a blow for Everton that he later left the stadium in a protective boot after sustaining an injury, and they will hope the issue is nothing serious heading into the international break.
