A section of England and Tottenham fans took to Twitter to drool over Dele Alli after his performance in the 3-0 win over USA at Wembley on Thursday night.
Alli played 58 minutes of the clash before making way for Jordan Henderson as a mostly experimental side demonstrated how bright the future is with a convincing win.
Many supporters were blown away by the assuredness of Alli, with comments including “world class” and “brilliant”.

COMMENTARY:
It wasn’t just the Spurs fans gushing about Alli following his midfield masterclass against USA, it was the England ones, too. It’s fair to say that, following an excellent start to his international career, the 22-year-old has flickered only intermittently for the national team. Even at the World Cup, he was okay-ish without quite lighting it up. In Gareth Southgate’s 4-3-3, Alli was used in a deeper role than normal at Wembley, operating alongside Fabian Delph and club mate Harry Winks in a midfield three, with Jadon Sancho, Callum Wilson and Jesse Lingard ahead of them. Alli ran the game at times, slowing it down and then quickening it up, providing shrewd distribution, classy touches and assisting Jesse Lingard for the opening goal. Some England fans have claimed in recent times they’re not sure what the fuss is about when it comes to Alli. He demonstrated at Wembley why he justifies the hype.

Do NOT say this often but brilliant half from dele Alli, just wish he was consistent and cared more about football than the social aspect?

Another solid display from Dele tonight. Operated more as a number 8, but did the job. Prefer him behind the striker but he’s a great option! #ENG

And he's 22! And he plays with all the time, freedom maturity and skill of someone much more experienced. And he's ours. ??? #COYS
