Mohamed Elneny could quit Arsenal in the January window, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claim on their website that the experienced Egypt international could join Aaron Ramsey in heading out of Emirates Stadium when the winter window opens in six weeks.

Sky report Ramsey could be sold as he is out of contract at the end of the season and won’t be offered a new deal, with Elneny possibly joining him due to his lack of game time.

Good move for Arsenal?

Possibly. Elneny has not had a single minute of Premier League action this season, with all of his four appearances coming in the Europa League and League Cup. He can hardly be said to be an integral figure under Unai Emery, who has transformed how the team play since he took the reins from Arsene Wenger over the summer. If Emery doesn’t see a future for the 69-times international, Arsenal are better off getting him off the wage bill, with a loan move a strong possibility if a permanent buyer can’t be found. Elneny has made 76 appearances for the Gunners since joining from Basle in January of 2016 but doesn’t have the composure on the ball to cut it at such a high-standard side.

Likely to happen?

It is certainly on the cards, especially if Elneny continues to be on the fringes. Given they play in similar positions, it is more likely that the Egyptian will leave in January if Ramsey stays and then heads out at the end of the season.
