German heavyweights Bayern Munich are to launch a surprise scouting mission for Everton’s loaned out winger Henry Onyekuru in Galatasaray’s clash with Locomotiv Moscow on Wednesday, according to Fotospor.

The Turkish news outlet claim on their website that the 21-year-old, who is on a season long loan at the Super Lig side, has caught the attention of the Bundesliga giants and that they are set to monitor his performance in the Champions League outing in Russia, which will surprise many considering his average performances.

Onyekuru, a six cap international for Nigeria, has never appeared for the Toffees in a competitive match as a result of his work permit issues, having signed for the Merseyside outfit back in the summer of 2017, and has scored four goals in 14 appearances for his loan side.

Good move for Everton?

With the struggles that the Toffees have had in trying to get Onyekuru the correct paperwork to play in the Premier League, then maybe it would not the worst thing in the world to have a cash-rich club chasing his capture.

Everton need to choose whether he is ever going to make the grade at Goodison Park and if not, then cashing in when he is worth the most is the best thing for everyone.

Bayern might only be making an initial approach for the Nigerian international and seeing what he has to offer but it means that he is catching the eye of big clubs and that is only good news for Everton if they want to drive up his price.

It is a stick or twist moment for the Toffees, and it might be best to take the cash and run.

Likely to happen?

This one is a real surprise and not one that anyone could have expected.

Onyekuru has been decent this season with four goals but he has hardly done anything to warrant Bayern’s reported interested and unless he absolutely tears Locomotiv Moscow to shreds, he is hardly going to impress enough to get a move to Germany.

This might just be a one off visit to see if he can dazzle, but no one should be holding their breath over a move happening.
