Sky Sport commentator Martin Tyler has unearthed a fascinating stat which Arsenal fans are going to love – until maybe they delve a little deeper!

Writing in his regular stats column on Sky Sports, Tyler points out that new manager Unai Emery has the most goals per PremierLeague match of any current manager, including Man City’s Pep Guardiola.

Now, admittedly, Emery’s sample size is much smaller than Guardiola’s, but in his 12 games in charge Emery has averaged 3.42 goals per game.

Coming after him are the Premier League heavyweights – Pep Guardiola (3.33), Manuel Pellegrini (3.21) and Jurgen Klopp (3.09).

So far so good and Arsenal are playing some free-flowing attacking football this season – better even than Liverpool.

They’ve scored the third highest number of goals in the Premier League this season, one less than Chelsea and ten fewer than Man City.

However, the stat is TOTAL goals per game, which also takes into account the number that Arsenal have been conceding.

They’ve conceded 15 goals, the same number as Newcastle in 14th, five more than Tottenham in fourth and ten more than both Liverpool and Man City.

Everyone loves a 4-3 win but the reality is that until Emery can learn to shut the leaks at the back and keep the goals flowing against the opposition, Arsenal aren’t going to win the Premier League.

They will entertain the fans though and that’s surely half the battle?
