OPINION
Llorente is a man in demand at the moment – if that is who Newcastle were watching – and he’s also been scouted by Liverpool and Tottenham. He’s enjoying something of a rebirth of his career since his move to Sociedad, winning his first cap in over two years on Sunday and playing the full 90 minutes for Spain. That follows his £6.3million move from Real Madrid to Sociedad, where he has been hampered by an injury. That’s limited him to just four appearances in La Liga although they’re yet to lose a league game that he’s played in. Llorente, who came up through the youth ranks at Real Madrid will have been disappointed not to make it there – he only made three appearances for the senior side – but he’ll be a lot happier that he’s on the radar of some big British clubs, with a move to the Premier League looking likely. He won’t be cheap though. He’s under contract until 2022 and Sociedad will be looking to make a handsome profit on the £6.3million they paid for him.
