Salomon Rondon has no desire of playing for West Brom again and Newcastle United will have a go at making his loan deal permanent in the January transfer window, according to the Northern Echo.

The newspaper claims that the 29-year-old does not want to play for the Baggies again, even if they secure promotion to the Premier League this season.

It is understood that the Magpies are planning to make Rondon’s loan stay at St James’ Park permanent in the New Year so that they can free up the possibility of signing another player on loan in the January window.

Good move for West Brom?

Definitely, they can have him.

Rondon may have been popular with the West Brom fans because of his big smile and hard-working attitude, but at the end of the day, the Venezuela international’s record in front of goal was a major reason by Albion were relegated last season.

In 120 appearances across all competitions for the Baggies, Rondon scored just 28 goals, so it’s not like the Black Country club would miss him if he was to move to Newcastle permanently.

Darren Moore could boost his transfer budget for January by cashing in on the striker in the winter, so it could be a very good way to improve the club’s bid for promotion.

Likely to happen?

It could depend on West Brom’s stance on Dwight Gayle but more than likely, the club would be happy to do business with Newcastle as long as they meeting their asking price.

Rondon had a £16.5million release clause in the summer that the Magpies failed to match, so it’s likely that they would want to pay less than that in January.

However if his form continues to improve after scoring two goals versus Bournemouth this month, West Brom could really up the ante.
