Sky Sports pundit Danny Mills has been drooling over Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after he helped his side earn a 0-0 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The 24-year-old England international made a number of top saves to keep the Toffees in the game as they earned a brilliant point against one of the Premier League’s in-form sides.

And that has led to former Leeds and Man City defender Mills naming Pickford in his team of the week for his display in West London.

“Jordan Pickford was outstanding at Stamford Bridge. He made some really important saves as Everton held Chelsea to a goalless draw,” said Mills on the Sky Sports website.

OPINION

Pickford was not the only Everton player to have a solid game against Chelsea. As it was a goalless game, some of the attacking play was frustrating to say the best with Bernard, Richarlison and Theo Walcott all looking off the boil. Everton’s star performers were definitely at the other end of the pitch and Lucas Digne or Yerry Mina could have easily made it into Mills’ team of the week as well. Pickford was a no-brainer though. Not goalkeeper in the Premier League had a better 90 minutes than him over the weekend and it is good to see the former Sunderland man going from strength to strength with the Toffees. Pickford has only kept three clean sheets in 12 league appearances this season though and that is something that needs to improve. Hopefully now that Marco Silva is naming his strongest defence for the first time in charge at Goodison, that figure can get better.
