Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller has been left head over heels for the progress that Celtic’s James Forrest has shown at Parkhead as he heralds Brendan Rodgers for his impact on the winger.

The 27-year-old has been tearing it up for club and country over the last couple of weeks with nine goals and 12 assists for his club so far, while his international displays helped Scotland to qualify for League B of the Nations League, netting a hat trick in their must-win game against Israel.

His development has been applauded by Miller, who made sure to point out that manager Rodgers has been crucial in the Scot’s performances.

Speaking of the winger, Miller told Sky Sports’ SPFL Matters (23/11, 18:00): “Incredible. He’s another player who’s reaped the rewards of working with Brendan Rodgers over the last two and a half years.

“He’s always had the ability, there’s never been any doubt with James Forrest. Always been pacey, always been really direct – an old school type of winger.

“His game’s just gone to another level in the last two and a half years.”

Opinion

Miller is not hiding his love for Forrest here, is he? To be fair to the striker, the performances of the Celtic man can be nothing but applauded, for he really is showing his very best now. He was outstanding last season and there would have been many questioning whether he could continue to dazzle into the current campaign, and it would be fair to say he has shot down any doubters. He is such a constant threat both on goal himself as well as setting up his teammates that the opposition simply do not know what to do with him, and he will always pounce upon any doubt in a defence to take full advantage. The fact he is now performing for Scotland as well as his club will have his confidence through the roof and the Hoops faithful will be counting down the hours until they can finally see their star man strutting his stuff under Rodgers – who is quite rightly recognised for his impact on the forward.
