Leeds United must pull off a quickfire move to sign free agent goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama after Marcelo Bielsa was left without a senior goalkeeper for the clash against Bristol City on Saturday.

Jamal Blackman’s loan was cut short over the international break after the Chelsea man suffered a broken leg while playing for the Under-23s.

That left Leeds with a big enough problem anyway, but it has since been confirmed that number one choice shot-stopper Bailey Peacock-Farrell is also injured and unavailable for this weekend’s action.

That means that Bielsa will have to call on Under-23s goalkeepers Will Huffer or Kamil Miazek to start against Bristol City.

While it will be exciting to see the potential making of a new star goalkeeper for the Whites, it is also very concerning and Bielsa needs to find himself a short-term solution to this injury crisis.

Enyeama, 36, is currently a free agent after he was released by Lille at the end of August and would be a brilliant short-term signing for the Whites if they are able to convince him to join them.

The ex-Lille shot-stopper is known for his cat-like reflexes and his ability to pull off some stunning saves.

He earned 101 caps for Nigeria before retiring from international duty and there is nobody out there that is better than him for what United currently need.

Yes, they could sign someone on an emergency loan but they cannot sign anyone from the Premier League and clubs in the Championship could be reluctant to help out the Yorkshire giants, especially those in the promotion hunt.

So Leeds would struggle to get a third-choice goalkeeper from a team down the bottom of the Championship or in League One – and Enyeama would be miles better than any other them even if he hasn’t played any football in quite some time.
