A number of Leeds United fans have turned to social media to annihilate the performance of goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell after he conceded four in the heavy defeat to West Brom.

The Baggies sealed a comfortable win at the Hawthorns thanks to second half goals from Hal Robson-Kanu, Matt Phillips, Harvey Barnes and Dwight Gayle, while Pablo Hernandez netted an injury time consolation with a looping header into the home side’s net.

Fans were left absolutely raging over what they saw from the man between their own sticks, taking to Twitter to vent their fury, some even suggesting that the shot stopper, a mainstay in the starting XI this season, should never play again.

COMMENTARY

While fans’ frustrations over young Peacock-Farrell have been somewhat over the top in recent games, they were well within their rights to tear the keeper to pieces after a shocking display between the sticks. He was all over the place at times and he should have definitely done much better for Phillips’ long range strike, while he can take no pride in any of the other goals that he let past him either. This could not have come at a worse time for the goalkeeper either, with Marcelo Bielsa now having two weeks, courtesy of the international break, to stew over a bitterly disappointing performance and result – and the goalkeeper’s errors will no doubt come under much scrutiny. His place in the team has never been safe with Jamal Blackman waiting on the fringes and now the current number one must be left fearing for his future in the side.
