OPINION

Izzy Brown has been the one bit of good news for Leeds recently, as they lurch through a terrible injury crisis.

He made his return to the Leeds Under-23s last week ahead of schedule after initially looking at a January return to the first-team.

He said he was looking forward to playing a full 90 minutes in the Under-23s game against Sheffield United today, before making himself available for the first-team, but hasn’t been named in the squad.

That’s a very worrying sign for a player who was recovering from a serious ACL injury.

Now, if you were an eternal optimist you could say that it means he might be ready for a first-team return tomorrow against Reading.

Especially with Jack Harrison named as a stater today and unlikely to feature against Reading.

But we just can’t see any way that would be the case, especially after Marcelo Bielsa said he had no idea how long it would be before he returned to the first-team just last week.

He said that Brown had been out for a year and would need to be carefully managed.

That means it’s more likely that he’s had a setback and that would be yet another shattering blow for Leeds if that was the case.

We’ll hopefully find out more later today but this is yet another player that Leeds fans now have cause for concern about.
