Ryan Giggs has been gushing over Tottenham star Christian Eriksen as his Wales side prepare to take on Denmark in the UEFA Nations League on Friday night.

Eriksen, 26, scored a brace when the two sides met in Denmark in September as the Welsh suffered a 2-0 defeat.

Man United legend Giggs admits that Wales need to be wary of the Spurs playmaker once again this week and has set up a special plan to try and deal with him.

“He’s a fantastic player and was the difference in Aarhus,” Giggs said, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“We have to be aware of his qualities and we are. But it’s one thing setting out a plan to stop him, it’s another actually doing it.

“He’s up there as one of the top Premier League performers, and he’s done it for a consistent amount in both scoring and making goals.

“He can be the difference, but it’s the same for them trying to stop our quality players hurting them.”

OPINION

Eriksen may have tore Wales to shreds in September, but the midfielder has not been in the best of form for Tottenham this season. It may be down to the fact that he will enter the final year of his contract at the end of next season and recent reports suggest that there has been a stand-off between him and the club over new terms. Eriksen is a top, top player, as Giggs says, but he needs to be performing better for Spurs. At the moment, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura are providing more in attack than the Dane, which is fine for Spurs but it is not good that one of their best players is off the boil. Hopefully he can have another stormer against Wales this week and return to North London in a similar vein of form. Otherwise it could be a season where the ex-Ajax ace frustrates Tottenham fans because they all know he can play so much better.
