Everton left-back Antonee Robinson is expected to miss four weeks of action with an ankle injury, it has been confirmed.

The USA international team have announced on their official website that Robinson, 21, sprained his right ankle while taking part in a training session on Tuesday ahead of his nation’s friendly clash with England this week.

Robinson is currently on loan with Wigan in the Championship, but has now been ruled out of their upcoming fixtures and is not expected to be back to fitness until mid-December.

Robinson’s injury is not only a massive blow for him, because he will miss the game against England, but it’s also a huge blow for Wigan, who will have to do without him for their upcoming fixtures. Since heading to the DW Stadium on loan in the summer, Robinson has made 15 appearances in the Championship for Wigan, so it is clear that he is a key player for the Latics. They have some big games coming up against fellow struggles like Reading and Bolton but he could be fit in time for their clash against Ipswich on December 15. Wigan will need him back by then because that game could be a big one down the bottom of the Championship table. As for Everton, they need Robinson to be playing regularly so that he can bump up his potential transfer value in the future. He is already earning caps for the USA so establishing himself in domestic football is the next step for him.
