Tottenham’s midfield ace Christian Eriksen is unhappy with the demands set upon him by manager Mauricio Pochettino leaving his future in north London on the line amid contract talks and transfer speculation, according to the Express.

The newspaper claim that the Danish maestro is demanding a wage in line with the other senior stars’ new deals as contract talks take place, his current terms expiring in the summer of 2020.

However, it is stated that Eriksen is not happy with the tactical demands placed on his shoulders by Pochettino and the positions he is being asked to play in, and with the likes of Real Madrid said to be eyeing a move for the 27-year-old his future at the club is finely balanced.

Opinion

This is a revelation which could make all the difference to Tottenham – and not in the way they might hope. Money is one thing and you can be certain that Spurs would be willing to meet the sort of demands he makes due to his supreme talent. However, the unhappiness coming from the decisions of the manager are a little bit more difficult to rectify and it could be Eriksen has grown fed up with being pushed here, there and everywhere across the pitch as Pochettino looks to patch up problems in his side. What the manager needs to do is convince his star attacking midfielder that he will only be utilised in a role which suits him and the club the best and that such tactical moves will only be done as a last resort if at all. Spurs really cannot afford to be losing the creative talents of Eriksen any time soon for his absence is massively noticeable in games he has been forced to sit out recently. Time for Pochettino to charm his senior mainstay and get him back smiling in north London.
