A number of Nottingham Forest supporters have been reacting with ecstasy to right back Tendayi Darikwa’s performance against Stoke City on Saturday.
The Zimbabwe international was superb in the goalless draw with the Potters, providing a menacing presence going forward while remaining steadfast defensively on the right hand side of the Forest defence.
It was a disciplined display overall from Aitor Karanka’s side but Darikwa’s performance stood out, and the Forest faithful clearly appreciated his efforts.
COMMENTARY
Darikwa was truly excellent on Saturday. The 26-year-old hasn’t always been the most popular of figures at the City Ground but he has looked much improved so far this season. Karanka now has two wonderfully talented full backs in Darikwa and Jack Robinson and the defence has looked solid in recent weeks as a result. Saturday’s game was another stiff test for the team against a fine Stoke side who aren’t far removed from being a Premier League outfit, but the Forest defence passed with flying colours as they produced a determined display at the City Ground. Darikwa was an important part of that, as he didn’t shirk his defensive responsibilities while maintaining his usual attacking threat. You can understand why the Forest faithful were so pleased with him after a performance like that. They can look forward to many more such displays because it appears that Darikwa is going from strength to strength.

Could have gone either way but a pity we couldn’t grab one of those 2nd half chances. @TendayiDarikwa turned in a huge second half. Awesome energy! ??? #nffc

Draw was fair IMO both teams had v. good chances. Anyone but Jack Butland in goal and we would have sneaked 3 points. Darikwa best player for us. Thought #nffc got a grip of the game for last 15/20 mins when Yacob replaced Gueds. He looks a class act at this level.
