The Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon has said he doesn’t see any offers coming in for Leeds forward Kemar Roofe in January, which will be a big relief to fans.

Nixon delivered his verdict after the Daily Mirror (November 4, p66) had claimed that three Premier League clubs, Wolves, Crystal Palace and Southampton were all interested.

However, when asked by a fan if he saw any offers coming in in January, Nixon had an emphatic response.

OPINION

This is good news for Leeds. Roofe is central to their promotion push – he’s now scored seven goals in 10 games in the Championship – and it was very doubtful that he would have left in the middle of such an important season. His career, like many others at Elland Road this season, has been transformed under Bielsa and we’re sure he would much rather play in the Premier League for Leeds than any of the three clubs that he’s been linked with. However, Leeds could do without the distraction of any offers coming in for him in January. Nixon is a very good source of transfer information – probably the best for Championship players – and this pours cold water on any Premier League offers coming in for him. Hopefully, the only deals that Elland Road sees in January are incomings, with a couple of new recruits needed to keep Leeds at the top of the table. They’ve been linked with moves for Ezequiel Ponce and Ibai Gomez, and both or even either of these would be fantastic new additions.
