Leeds United might have a fresh injury worry to contend with after the surprise sight of Clarke Oduor taking the place of Tom Pearce in Monday’s under-23 clash against Crew Alexandra, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The newspaper claim on their website that Pearce, who has been a mainstay on the fringes of the first team having missed out on just three match day squads, was a surprise absentee from the reserve team, as Carlos Corberan’s side fell to a 3-1 defeat.

Having missed out on the club’s Championship clash against Wigan Athletic, the report states that the 20-year-old could be another injury worry for the club after a host of other setbacks in the side, many of which have come in defence as Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi sit out on the sidelines.

Opinion

This is getting ridiculous now. Just how much bad luck are Leeds going to suffer before the footballing gods decide to smile down on them again? While there is no confirmation of where Pearce has got to there is no real explanation other than he is suffering from some sort of problem, be that illness or injury. He seems to be well trusted by Bielsa in the first team, acting as regular back up to the senior talents, and with the amount of problems suffered over the last couple of weeks the youngster would have been hoping to see more first team action, having made appearances in the last two games before he missed out against Wigan. However the fact he was nowhere to be seen for the under-23s is a worrying sign, and fans will have everything they can crossed in hope that whatever the issue is he overcomes it sooner rather than later.
