Leeds United scouts were in attendance during the Athens derby at the weekend as they ran the rule over Argentine striker Ezequiel Ponce, according to Club Call

The reliable football website claim that the Whites sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action for AEK, but he could not break the deadlock as the game finished 0-0.

Club Call report that Bielsa knows Ponce well after signing him on loan during his time at Lille, with the forward now having embarked on four separate loan spells away from parent club Roma.

Good move for Leeds?

Yes.

Ponce was labelled as Argentina’s next big thing when he emerged as a teenager, but a serious knee injury has hampered his progress since a move to Europe with Roma.

However, the talented striker is still just 21 years old, and is showing signs of resurgence with AEK, having netted five goals in eight Super League matches this season.

Bielsa obviously knows the player well, and considering Leeds could do with another striker, a move for Ponce is one that makes sense for the Whites.

Likely to happen?

It is impossible to say at this moment.

Leeds are obviously showing some interest, but there has been no mention of a move in January or the summer.

Bielsa obviously rates Ponce, but it is yet to be seen if he thinks he would fit in well at Elland Road.
