Many Leeds United fans have slaughtered the performance of goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell early on in the clash against Wigan Athletic on Sunday afternoon.

The Whites travelled to the DW Stadium looking to return to the top of the Championship table by picking up all three points, but found themselves pegged back early on after Reece James struck a free kick into the net after just six minutes, although Pablo Hernandez levelled things just three minutes later.

Following the early Latics goal, a number of Leeds fans turned to Twitter to hammer the display of the ever present between the sticks in the Championship this season, with many calling for Marcelo Bielsa to swing the axe after what they deemed to be another costly error.

COMMENTARY

This is not the first time that Peacock-Farrell has come under fire from the supporters and it seems the pressure is building for Bielsa to make a crunch decision, with Jamal Blackman waiting patiently on the bench after his loan move from Chelsea. While it is hard to put all the blame on the shot stopper for Wigan’s opener there are a lot of questions to be asked over his positioning of both himself and the wall, leaving plenty of space for James to curl the ball into the bottom corner. It was a finely placed effort from the set play but perhaps a keeper of more experience would have known how best to deal with the situation and done things differently. It is all part of the learning curve but when it is costing Leeds goals, perhaps Bielsa will have to take action to ensure their success is not put on the line by his performances.
