A number of Leeds United fans have been left raving on social media after the club officially revealed that Izzy Brown would be starting their under-23 clash against Birmingham City on Friday afternoon.
The Whites faithful have had to wait since the summer to see Brown in action, having arrived at Elland Road on loan from Chelsea already suffering from a long-term injury, with the club handing him his first chance in a Leeds shirt at reserve level, as confirmed by the club’s official Twitter account.

News of the attacking midfielder’s step up in recovery had the Leeds faithful losing their mind on Twitter, with one fan joking that he had forgotten what positive injury news felt like having seen a number of senior talents pick up a mix of minor and serious setbacks this season.
COMMENTARY
Well it is about time for Leeds fans, but as the old saying goes, better late than never. Brown was an exciting capture over the summer but it was known then that the supporters would have to wait some time before he was playing any football thanks to his serious injury blow. His loan signing was more a chance to bed him into the goings on at Elland Road, not to mention preventing anyone else snapping him up ahead of the Whites, and now, finally, the supporters will get an idea of what he has to offer. They should not be expecting miracles, even if the hype over his return is pretty big on social media, for he will take time to get back up to speed. He is going to be rusty and will need patience as he looks to find his feet on the football pitch once again. Still, with a lack of attacking midfielders in the first team squad, Brown is now able to stake his claim for a place in Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
