Leeds United are in a three way hunt to sign Cardiff City winger Kadeem Harris, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that the 25-year-old is also on the radar of Championship sides Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers, with the player’s current contract set to expire at the end of the season [Source: Transfermarkt].

Talks have yet to begin between Harris and the Bluebirds over a new deal, despite the winger impressing in wins over Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion recently.

Harris didn’t appear in the Premier League until the middle of last month, but has since scored against the Cottagers and played 90 minutes for the first time against Brighton.

Good move for Leeds?

There aren’t many areas of this Leeds squad that need improving, and the wings wouldn’t immediately strike fans as an area that needs upgrading, but perhaps this interest demonstrates that manager Marcelo Bielsa already has one eye on potential top flight football next term. Harris is a player that the club may not feel they need immediately, but view as someone who they can snap up for nothing in a bid to strengthen their squad ahead of a Premier League campaign next season. In that regard it would be a decent move for the Whites. The 25-year-old wouldn’t cost anything and has, albeit limited, Premier League experience. He’s shown in recent weeks that he can make an impact in the top tier, though, so it wouldn’t be a bad move.

Likely to happen?

Well, Bielsa would have to beat out competition from both Villa and Bolton, with the former presenting rather more trouble than the latter you would have thought. However, if Leeds secure promotion then they would certainly put themselves in the driving seat for Harris’s services.
