Former Leeds midfielder Andy Couzens has sad that Marcelo Bielsa should start Jack Clarke in the Championship game against Bristol City on Saturday.

Talking on the latest episode of the Talking Shutt podcast, Couzens said the youngster offers something “completely different” and that he could be the key to unlocking the current Leeds problem.

“I would put him on,” Couzens said. “I saw him pre-season and he’s great. He’s got a big future at Leeds. He gives us something totally different, he’s direct.

“I think someone’s going to get a hiding soon at Elland Road. We’ve had the most possession in all the games we’ve played, we’re creating chances. We just need someone to create chances. I’d be bringing in Clarke. Give the kid a chance. I think he’d do well.”

OPINION

Couzens is echoing what we’ve been saying for the past few weeks. Bielsa obviously doesn’t want to expose Clarke too quickly but he’s looked sharp in his cameo appearances for the club and deserves a start. Leeds fans have been on Alioski’s back for his inconsistency and tendency to drift offside, but he’s actually been creating a lot of chances. However, Leeds have struggled and Clarke does offer something completely different. He’s happy to run at players and has looked better than Man City loanee Jack Harrison, despite being limited to just three appearances in the league off the bench. It would be too much to say that the wheels have fallen off the Leeds juggernaut, but the form has dipped and despite dominating possession the goals have dried up. With Saiz currently languishing on the bench, Clarke is an option that Bielsa should try. If it doesn’t work then Alioski can just come back on. But we think that Clarke could be the key that unlocks the opposition defence on Saturday. And Bristol City could be on the end of the hiding that
