Premier League side Burnley are still interested in securing a return for West Bromwich Albion striker Jay Rodriguez in January, according to Sky Sports

The broadcaster report that manager Sean Dyche is keen to sign a player who can be deployed as both a striker and a winger, with 29-year-old Rodriguez able to fill in both positions.

Sky Sports claim that Burnley’s interest in teammate Craig Dawson has however eased off since the summer, when the Clarets were seeking a double deal for both players.

Good move for West Brom?

Absolutely not.

Rodriguez has been in brilliant form this season alongside Dwight Gayle up front, with the 29-year-old bagging eight goals in 15 appearances for the Baggies.

Keeping the experienced forward will be so important for Darren Moore if he wants to get back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

While the club would likely receive a hefty transfer fee for his services, that will pale in comparison to the impact that Rodriguez can have if he stays.

Likely to happen?

You would think not.

Burnley could not convince West Brom to part with their star for £16million in the summer, and there is no reason why the asking price would have decreased since then.

Even if the Clarets offer more than that in January, West Brom are surely likely to reject any advances and try to keep hold of their striker.

Everyone will be well aware of the importance of keeping Rodriguez, so unless Burnley submit an offer they cannot refuse, then this one is unlikely.
