A number of Aston Villa fans have turned to Twitter to destroy the first half performance of forward Jonathan Kodjia in the club’s clash away to Derby County on Saturday afternoon.
The Villans travelled to Pride Park looking to make it two consecutive wins after securing a 2-0 victory at home to Bolton Wanderers last weekend, with their clash against the Rams their last game before the two week international break.
However the fans watching on were left disappointed by what they saw from Kodjia as he passed up opportunities to give Dean Smith’s side an away lead, and took to social media to slam his performance in the first 45 minutes.
COMMENTARY
Kodjia might be one of the first names on the team sheet this season but his performances have left plenty to be desired. He is scoring at a rate of a goal every four games – with four in 16 outings – and that simply is not good enough to fire the club to success in the Championship. Fans are right to be fuming over his performances of late and that has simply continued at Derby. He is known to pass up gilt-edged opportunities and have the supporters tearing their hair out – so could manager Dean Smith look to replace him in the January transfer window? If Villa are serious about launching a push for a top six finish then they definitely need a centre forward who nets on a regular basis, and that throws Kodjia into the firing line. He has time to turn his performances around but he needs to do it quickly for frustrations are mounting at Villa Park.
This is Futbol has gathered a selection of the supporters’ tweets:

Kodjia has to dodge Grealish, but he HAS to score there. Not even on target. #AVFC

We’re going to vulnerable on which ever side of the pitch Kodjia is playing…..he rarely tracks back with his fullback….but good to see an attacking team being put out again

Doubt we'll get a clearer chance on goal than that header from Kodija. A really big miss that #AVFC
