Celtic fans enjoyed a fantastic night in the Europa League on Thursday night and they were in awe of their young left-back Kieran Tierney.

The 21-year-old scored the first goal of the game in the 11th minute and helped secure the three points that give them a real chance of qualifying for the final 32.

It was a must-win game tonight and although Celtic rode their luck at times this will go down as a fantastic win against a really good German side.

They could have crumpled when Leipzig equalised in the 78th minute but showed real character to score just 14 seconds after the restart to win 2-1.

COMMENTARY
21-years-old. It’s easy to forget that when you’re watching Kieran Tierney play. He was brilliant tonight and was the unlikely scorer of the first Celtic goal, that looked for a long time like being the winner. Celtic were the underdogs tonight despite playing at home and Tierney was 70/1 with some bookies to score the first goal. Leipzig poured the pressure on towards the end of the game but Celtic held on and were warriors to a man tonight. They started off really slowly by their standards but they’ve hit their stride in the league and this will give Brendan Rodgers a huge boost. Make no mistake, Leipzig are a top outfit, fourth in the Bundesliga, and this was proof that Celtic can live with the elite when they’re at their best. One fan called Tierney a legend while another said that on a European stage against one of the top German sides, he was a class above. He wasn’t the only one tonight. Ryan Christie was outstanding too, as was Odsonne Edouard, and it was a really brave performance from Brendan Rodgers’ men. The fans were a different level too – this felt like a return to the big time for Celtic.
