Dimitar Berbatov was at Tottenham the last time they won a trophy, beating Chelsea in the 2008 league cup final.

And he has said that the club must win something or risk losing their star players, even up and coming talents like Harry Winks.

Berbatov also said that he’s frustrated watching Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino, saying that they “have everything they need to win” and admitted that he screams at the TV when he’s watching them.

Talking to Betfair, as quoted by the Evening Standard, Berbaotv said, “It might be harsh but it’s the truth, he [Harry Winks] might need to leave Tottenham if he wants to win a trophy.

“I want to see Tottenham win silverware, any silverware so when a player is asked if they want to leave they can say that they’re in the right place and they’re winners. However, they need to win something soon if they want their team to stop thinking the question if they need to leave to have success.

“The last time Tottenham won something was 11 years ago, f****** hell, I was there.

“And they have everything they need to win. A great coach, a new stadium coming up, great players.  That’s why I get p***** off and scream at the TV.”

OPINION
Tottenham have almost everything they need to win a trophy. They’ve got the players and in Pochettino they’ve got one of the best managers in the world. Unfortunately, they’ve got a new stadium on the way and that could mean Pochettino doesn’t get to sign the players he needs to make Tottenham compete at the very top. They’re not a million miles away and in Pochettino they’ve got a manager whose ambitions are at the very top of the game. He doesn’t want to win the league cup, he wants to win the Premier League or the Champions League. That’s what you want from your manager but at the same time, it’s not entirely realistic at the moment. Winning the league cup or the FA Cup is and lifting either of those two trophies would get the monkey off Tottenham’s back. Winning begets winning and a trophy – any trophy – would put Spurs back on the map and could even attract new players. If Poch is only happy with the league or the Champions League, it could be a long wait for fans.
