A section of Aston Villa fans took to Twitter to hail Jack Grealish for his performance in the team’s 1-0 Championship defeat to QPR on Friday night.
Dean Smith’s new side have fallen to back-to-back defeats and slip to 16th in the table, six points off the top six before the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.
But many Villa fans were hugely encouraged by the display of playmaker Grealish, with comments including “back to his best” and “wow, what a player”.

COMMENTARY:
Villa supporters have not always been totally enamoured with Grealish’s performances this season. He has been hit-and-miss since failing to get a dream summer switch to Tottenham and signing a new long term deal with the Midlands giants. But fans almost universally pointed out on social media that the attacking midfielder was back to his best against QPR in the Friday night televised clash. He hit the post with a free-kick and looked dangerous every time he had the ball at his feet. As Smith pointed out afterwards, QPR were stooped to illegal methods to stop the Villa dribbler running riot. Comfortably the most fouled player in the Championship this season, Grealish is a marked man. Every opposing team know how good he can be. It’s now up to the 23-year-old to consistently deliver the goods. A record of just one assist and not a single goal from 15 appearances this season is wretched for such an attacking player.
Absolutely gutting to most likely lose this game, but Iv absolutely loved it. Haven’t played like this in years Grealish has been outstanding

Jack Grealish was the man of the match for me. The players around him not doing the job. Alan Hutton did well at right-back. Before he went off injured, Geoff Cameron was QPR's best player. Great assist for the goal and key tackles throughout the game. #QPR #AVFC

On a positive note Grealish played much better today, he looked up for it and QPR struggled to handle him #avfc
