Ian Wright has said that Thierry Henry and John Terry would be a “dream team” for Aston Villa.

Henry is the bookies short favourite to be appointed new manager and Terry could be in line for a return in a coaching role.

This comes after Steve Bruce was sacked after a string of disappointing results.

And Wright believes Henry and Terry would be “very exciting” appointments by the Villa hierarchy.

“When you delve into it, if you’ve got an owner who’s brave enough, then you can start putting people around them they can delegate to,” Wright said on BBC Radio 5.

“I think it’s very exciting. It could be a dream team partnership.”

Derby and Rangers both took risks on inexperienced young managers over the summer and it’s paid off in a big way. Henry is surely another former player who’s destined for great things as a manager. Wright is right when he says you need an owner who’s prepared to be brave. But so many big clubs have made costly mistakes by hiring old managers and then cutting them loose after less than a season. Henry would be the progressive choice and having Terry on board could well end up being the ‘dream team’ as Wrighty has called them. Most fans would welcome their appointment and we could see them in charge for the Swansea game on October 20. Now that would be exciting.
