A section of West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to tear Chris Brunt to shreds for his performance in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Wednesday night.
Brunt, 33, was back in the centre of the midfield for the trip to Yorkshire, and found himself at the centre of criticism for failing to close down Adam Reach when he opened the scoring with a stunner from outside of the box.
Some Albion fans were furious with the former Northern Ireland international on social media, with one saying that he was an “absolute snail”.

OPINION
When will this madness end? Brunt is not a central midfielder and cannot keep on playing there. Gareth Barry isn’t amazing but at least he looks comfortable in the position. West Brom’s lack of activity towards the end of the summer is really hurting them because Darren Moore has such a top-heavy squad. He has plenty of attacking midfielders, but not really anyone other than Barry, Jake Livermore or Sam Field – who never plays – who can sit deep in the centre. January cannot come soon enough but knowing West Brom, they won’t sign anyone and Moore will spew out the same old tripe about being happy with his current squad. Sorry West Brom fans, but it looks like your frustrations about Brunt are going to continue until his contract expires at the end of the season. It’s really hard to see how he can merit another contract extension after the shockers he has produced so far this term.
