Tottenham have revealed that missing reserve pair Kazaiah Sterling and Jamie Reynolds have taken the final step in their recoveries as they both feature for the under-23 side on Friday afternoon.

The north London outfit revealed their matchday squad for the Premier League 2 clash against Leicester City via their official Twitter account, with familiar names to the Spurs faithful, such as Tashan Oakley-Boothe and Brandon Austin, joined by younger talents like Jamie Bowden in starting the clash.

As revealed by reliable Spurs insider Lilywhite Rose, who has a proven track record of stories involving the club, Sterling and Reynolds, the latter starting the game on the bench, have both been out of action for some time, but have taken the final step of their recovery with a return to action on Friday.

Opinion

While injuries are part and parcel of the game, no one wants to see a young footballer sidelined for any amount of time, so it is great to see that the likes of Reynolds and Sterling are back in and around the action for Spurs. The forward especially is one of those next generation of Tottenham starlets tipped to become first team talents in the future, so he would have been frustrated at not being able to continue his development and push for a senior role due to him being sidelined. Spurs are of course still in the League Cup and with Mauricio Pochettino likely to give his senior stars a break, it is a chance for youngsters such as Sterling to stake their claim for first team action – if he can prove himself at reserve level first, that is. This is a step in the right direction, and he will be hoping that now he is back, he can catch Mauricio Pochettino’s eye.
