Tottenham Hotspur will revisit their failed summer move for Aston Villa star Jack Grealish in January, according to the Express.

Sky Sports claimed that Spurs missed out on the player despite bidding £25million in August, and it now appears that Mauricio Pochettino will attempt to finally get his man in the winter.

Sporting Life reported recently that the Tottenham boss wants to strengthen his team in January after the club didn’t make a single signing in the summer.

It was unlikely that Spurs were going to give up on Grealish so easily, although the midfielder will cost significantly more than he did in the summer after signing a new long term contract at Villa last month.

Good move for Tottenham?

It’s difficult to say, really. There’s been a lot of talk about Spurs having a poor start to the season, yet they’re fourth in the Premier League table and two points off top spot. So they don’t necessarily need new recruits in January. Would Grealish improve their team? It’s debatable. The 23-year-old is a talented player but is he really going to get in the starting line up ahead of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli or Erik Lamela? The answer is no. He’d be a good squad signing, but surely no more than that.

Likely to happen?

This deal has taken so many twists and turns already that it’s difficult to say whether it will eventually happen or not. Grealish is surely destined for the top flight, and Tottenham would appear to be his natural destination, but it’s hard to have any real confidence in Spurs getting their man after this summer.
