OPINION

Celtic shot up to second place in the Scottish Premiership with an impressive 4-2 win against Hibernian at Parkhead on Saturday.

While Hibs may have pegged the Hoops back on two occasions in the second-half, Brendan Rodgers’ side never look as though they would fail to win in yet another top performance by his men.

Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham were both on the scoresheet in the first half while Odsonne Edouard helped himself to a crucial brace after the break.

Here, This is Futbol discusses three things learned about Celtic win their win over Hibs:

Edouard should always play over Griffiths

While Leigh Griffiths is not up to speed, Edouard has to be starting every game over the Scotland international in the coming weeks as he is in much better form right now. The former PSG striker has had a bit of a slow start to the season after becoming Celtic’s record signing in the summer, but he now has four goals in his last three outings across all competitions and will surely keep on improving. Griffiths on the other hand is suffering from a barren run and it is clear that he is not himself unless he is coming off the bench. Edouard has to start as the lone striker for the time-being.

Lustig must be binned in 2019

Celtic were made to work for their win on Saturday, and that is because their defence remains as a real weakness in this side. Mikael Lustig is arguably the worst offender in the Hoops back-line and the senior player must be binned next year when his contract ends. Back-up right-back Cristian Gamboa cannot seem to buy a game at the moment even with Lustig is such poor form. The Sweden international is slow, looks like he is unfit and makes way too many mistakes. A top defender has to have a good level of concentration and Lustig just doesn’t seem to have that. Right now, the player is absolutely woeful.

Eight in a row is a dead cert

Hearts may be three points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, but there are no doubts who will be top of the pile come the end of the season. Celtic started slowly but this win over Hibs shows that they will win their eighth league title in a row without much of a hassle. Hearts’ form will drop off at some point and Rangers have already proven that Craig Levein’s side are beatable. Celtic will go on a good run in the league now and Rodgers still has a couple of players to come back from injury.
