Paraguay manager Juan Carlos Osorio would love to bag the Aston Villa job, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claimed via their live transfer blog on Wednesday [08:50am] that the 57-year-old would be interested in replacing Steve Bruce at Villa Park, even though he was only appointed by Paraguay last month.

Osorio managed Mexico at the 2018 World Cup and has also had spells at Chicago Fire, New York Red Bulls and Sao Paulo.

Good move for Aston Villa?

Osorio is clearly a very experienced manager, but he is probably not the right choice for Villa.

It is not a good sign that the Colombian wants to succeed Bruce just a month after he agreed to take the Paraguay job – does loyalty mean anything these days?

Osorio was a good manager for Mexico, but other than that, there is little on his CV that would suggest that he would be the right man for Naseef Sawiris and Wes Edens to hire.

Likely to happen?

Osorio may be interested in the Villa job, but Birmingham are probably also interested in Lionel Messi.

There is no way that Sawiris and Edens would turn to the Paraguay boss, especially when it looks as though they could be using links to Jorge Mendes to hire their next boss, or they could go after Thierry Henry.
