It must be said that Steven Gerrard’s revolution at Rangers has well and truly taken off after a failure to impress last season, and plenty of their recent success comes down to his business in the transfer market.

The Light Blues conducted a massive overhaul of the playing staff at Ibrox over the summer, shipping plenty of deadwood out the door and bringing in some top class talent, both young, hungry players and experienced heads, to help push the club in the right direction in both Scotland and on the European stage.

It has gone to plan so far, with many of those new arrivals playing a big part in the first team, but despite the numerous success stories there is one man who has been a massive let down – Umar Sadiq.

The Nigerian striker was brought in from Roma on a loan deal but has failed to make any sort of impact so far, despite being almost 20 matches into their season after their early summer qualifiers for the Europa League, and he has done nothing to suggest he will be challenging Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty for their places any time soon.

It is reported by the Daily Record that Gerrard could well be looking to get rid of the 6’3″ (source: Transfermarkt) giant sooner rather than later and with that being the case, his loan deal must be torn up on New Year’s Day – when the January transfer window opens.

He has nothing to offer the squad and the longer he stays at Ibrox, the more he and the team are going to suffer as a result, and while he might have some talent, there is something that is stopping him from establishing himself as an option in Glasgow.

His loan deal is likely to only be able to be broken in the transfer windows, which is why 2019 must start with that contract being torn up and binned and his miserable stay coming to an end.
