A number of Rangers supporters have turned to social media to savage Steven Gerrard’s shock decision to bring Wes Foderingham in for the club’s clash against Kilmarnock.
Having been beaten in the Scottish League Cup semi-final by Aberdeen on Rangers, the Gers’ official Twitter page revealed the starting XI for the midweek league match at Ibrox, confirming that there were four changes from the side defeated over the weekend.

Umar Sadiq, Ryan Jack, Ovie Ejaria and Allan McGregor drop out of the line up in place of Alfredo Morelos, Andy Halliday, Scott Arfield and Wes Foderingham, and it was the shock move to swap out the man between the sticks which had the Ibrox faithful fuming on Twitter.
COMMENTARY
Rangers need a good result against Kilmarnock not only to close the gap at the top of the Premiership table but also to bounce back from what would have been a bitterly disappointing blow in the cup clash on Sunday. Gerrard had his arm twisted somewhat by the team selection he had to pick against the Dons, Sadiq being the only available out-and-out striker for example, and he will have been happy to have more players at his disposal for a match against a side flying high this season. However, the decision to swap out McGregor, who has been one of the top performers at Ibrox this season, and throw in Foderingham, who looked to have no future at the club, is a real surprise, and not one that has gone down well with the supporters. It is understandable as well – the regular first choice has done nothing to warrant dropping to the bench and unless Foderingham has been outstanding in training, there is no record of him being a brilliant goalkeeper. This could backfire badly for Gerrard.
