Steven Gerrard will be looking for a reaction from his men on Wednesday night as they prepare to take on Kilmarnock in the Premiership.

The 1-0 defeat in the Scottish Cup semi-final was a huge blow, with bitter rivals waiting for them after beating Hearts earlier on Sunday.

Two players disappointed on Sunday and they must both be axed for the next game.

Umar Sadiq is the obvious one. Thrown in at the deep end after criticism from Gerrard, Sadiq played because Alfredo Morelos was suspended and Kyle Lafferty was cup-tied.

He had the opportunity to make himself a hero in the closing stages of the game but went down under a soft challenge in the box and got a yellow card, and plenty more criticism from pundits and his manager.

Morelos must come back in and show what Rangers were missing in their semi-final and Gerrard must make it clear that he won’t stand for any more ill discipline.

Summer signing Lassana Coulibaly is the other player who under-performed on Sunday and he must make way for £25,000-a-week [Football Insider] Scott Arfield, who returned from injury to make a cameo on Sunday.

This is the team that will get Gerrard back to winning ways and dismantle Kilmarnock on Wednesday:
