After two years of complete and utter domination over the rest of Scottish football, Celtic have come back down to earth somewhat this season – but that does not mean that the current side will not go down in history at Parkhead.

Two consecutive treble winning campaigns, picking up every single piece of domestic silverware available to them, has seen the Bhoys secure their place in the history books, and while the players will forever be known as the double-treble winners, manager Brendan Rodgers will also have a special place at Celtic Park.

He was the driving force behind their success, ensuring his side rarely let their foot off the pedal and kept themselves head and shoulders above the rest.

While this current campaign has been a slow start for the Hoops, there is nothing to say that the club cannot go on to win everything once again at the third time of asking – but Rodgers’ place in the dugout might not be so certain.

The Sun have claimed that both Newcastle United and Leicester City are eyeing up a move for the Northern Irish boss this season, with the Premier League sides potentially having space in the dugout at some point in the near future.

It is stated that the Celtic board, which will include the likes of chief executive Peter Lawwell and top investor Dermot Desmond, have slapped a £9million fee on the manager’s head if the English sides want Rodgers – and while he might not say it publicly, Lawwell will be praying that a deal takes place.

The relationship between the board member and Rodgers has been left strained after a difficult summer transfer window, and the results this season, with some poor performances, mean that the boss’ position is not as watertight as it once was.

Rodgers might also be looking for an exit, having done pretty much all he can in Scotland, and if he was to leave, the club would much rather it was for a £9million windfall.

It would be a shock to see a deal done for Rodgers right now, or even in the near future, with that price tag massive for even a Premier League outfit, and the fact he is settled in Glasgow, but with the money potentially on the table, Lawwell will be hoping something comes off.
