Chris Sutton has risked the ire of Celtic fans by suggesting that Neil Lennon is the man to take over from Brendan Rodgers at Parkhead.
Writing in his column in the Daily Record, Sutton said that he hoped Rodgers stayed at the club.
However, he also said he had a “gut feeling” that Rodgers would leave if a big job came along.
And, if that happens he said that Lennon is the only man for the job.
COMMENTARY
Sutton is a great pundit and he normally doesn’t say anything that winds Celtic fans up. And some of them actually agree with his column calling for Lennon to take over after Rodgers. However, many fans are angry over the timing of it, with Celtic due to play Hibernian on Saturday. And others don’t think going back to Lennon is a good idea. However, as Sutton said to one fan who responded to him on Twitter, he doesn’t think either manager will lose any sleep over what he’s said. And that’s true. It’s likely neither one of them will read it. Sutton as a pundit is paid to get people to read his stuff and this column has certainly started a big debate. That’s the hallmark of a good columnist – to get a reaction. The very worst thing for Sutton is if no one cared or responded to what he said. You can call it clickbait or good journalist – either fits here.
Here are the best reactions from fans to Sutton’s incendiary column:
Not you as well Chris, come on. Brendan signed a contract to be there for 10 and we all expect him to be there for that.

Good story to churn out the day before the 2 clubs play each other. Disrespectful to both managers who seem quite happy in there current jobs. Rodgers hasn’t had any offers so how can his head be turned? As for Lennon he’s only just getting started at Hibs

Both managers are happy in their roles so this article doesn’t even have to be written.

Strange coincidence that this story appears 24 hours before Hibs go to Celtic Park. Not like one of the ugly sisters to try and unsettle the side they are playing at the weekend, especially if that side are doing well in the league..

You have either inside information or just unsettling both camps. Poor stuff https://t.co/H2RdOgCaSE
