Celtic suffered another injury blow on Saturday after skipper Scott Brown limped off the pitch in the game against Hibs.

And the key first-team player is set for a scan today to find out the extent of the injury, according to the Daily Record.

However, Brown is expected to miss the Europa League game on Thursday against RB Leipzig.

The Daily Record quoted a source who said, “He’s highly unlikely to be declared fit for Thursday night but, so long as nothing serious shows up, he should be in contention for the weekend.”

OPINION

Brown was making his return on Saturday after a hamstring injury and is said to be ‘baffled’ by the latest blow. It looks like he’ll miss the RB Leipzig game but he is hopeful that he’ll be back for the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday against Hearts. Brown is 33 and in the final years of his career and while this is said to be a mystery he’s likely to suffer more from injuries like this at his age. He’s still an absolutely key player for Brendan Rodgers though and will be a big miss on Thursday. Celtic are currently third in their group after two games, sitting behind the two RB teams, Salzburg (top) and Leipzig. A result away from home would be a bonus but all eyes will be on the semi-final on Sunday. Rodgers will be desperate to make another final, which could be against rivals Rangers who play Aberdeen in the other game.
