Hollywood actor Russell Crowe has claimed Leeds United are “looking good” in the Championship table at the moment with Marcelo Bielsa’s side sitting in third.

Crowe has supported Leeds since childhood despite growing up on the other side of the world, and is clearly impressed by Bielsa’s work so far this season.

The Gladiator star understands that it is still early days, but he is happy with where the Yorkshire giants currently sit despite sliding out of the top two before the international break.

“I know it’s early in the season but… looking good lads,” he said via his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

Crowe is impressed, as is every other Leeds United fan, who have seen their club transformed under Marcelo Bielsa. While Thomas Christiansen enjoyed this kind of start last season, it soon unravelled once the buzz of new players wore off and teams started to figure out his tactics. Bielsa has left opposition stunned by his system and Leeds are flourishing as a result. While there are a lot of positives about Leeds right now, one negative would have to be that the side is still lacking in strength in depth. Injuries over the last month or so has seen the club’s form get worse and they will start their game against Blackburn on Saturday outside of the top two for the first time this season. There is a silver lining to that issue though as it has seen younger players like Jack Clarke get a chance to shine in the first team and hopefully he will be a first team regular in the future.
